the LUNA PROJECT
Luna Project, in commemoration with the 50th anniversary of Snoopy's moon landing
The Lotte Cultural Foundation, Lotte World Tower, and Songpa-gu Office collaborated to present the special public art project Luna Project in Seokchon Lake in October 2019 with Sticky Monster Lab (SML), an artist group that represents Korean kidult culture. A total of seven unique space monsters, including a super balloon work that can reach a height of 16 meters, unfold on Seokchon Lake a warm story about human dreams, love, and the Earth's environment. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Snoopy's landing on the moon, the cute images of Snoopy's love messages and mankind's grand challenges were captured by the friends of space monsters. In particular, the balloon works of this project were made from recycled plastic fiber, which was created for the first time in Korea through joint research between Lotte Chemical and the Korea Textile Development Institute, which made them even more meaningful by actively practicing the important value of environmental protection. Citizens who visited Seokchon Lake had a special time to feel dreams and hopes through the lovely space monsters and rethink the importance of environmental protection.
