GIANT RABBIT: INTRUDE
인트루드, 침입
A public art project delivers message of preserving environment, freedom and hope. The internationally renowned rabbits of Intrude will be invading Starfield, South Korea from the 5th of September to the 3rd of October. Prepare for fun as the rabbits invade your usual space. Seoul will not only have the chance to see Intrude Classic and XL which have been seen in more than 30 cities around the world, but also bare witness to the international premiere of the Starfield commissioned works Nibbles and Intrude XXL. Nibbles is an interactive installation for the young and the young at heart, whilst Intrude XXL, standing at 15m high will be an incredible sight to behold. On exhibition at Starfield, South Korea will be 12 giant glowing rabbits that make the majority of the art exhibit Intrude. Regardless of their location from around the globe, the reaction from audiences has been effectively the same where ever it has gone and that is of playfulness. They bring out the child in everyone, which is the hook I use to lead the audience into the more serious themes within the artwork. Humans have always had a significant impact on their environment. They mold the landscape, that has in turn effected all of our natural ecosystems. Often the changes occur without the general population realising that any change has taken place. Rabbits in my home country of Australia are an introduced and feral species and have also had a similar impact to humans. In the Intrude series the rabbit stands as a metaphor for us and by increasing the size of the rabbits the animal also becomes a metaphor for our dominance and mismanagement of the natural world.
The Intrude rabbits artwork aim to stimulate discussion about our current mismanagement of the natural world.
